Bird
Today we're featuring a layout created by your's truly, me! In this layout, I wanted to show you how you can take our Gin-X doodle rub-ons and use the actual letters and numbers in addition to the flowers, hearts and swirls to add a little whimsy to your project. As you can see, I've used several flower rub-ons, both in the left hand corner as well as around the large photo. To make the "vines" and curly leaves, I connected several lower case "r"s and lower case "q"s from the Natalie rub-on set. With each letter, I made sure that I overlapped the letters just a little bit so that they looked like they were "hooked together". When stringing these letters together, don't worry about lining them up perfectly, after all, vines and leaves in nature are never perfect.
Other good characters to use from the set include the top of the exclaimation point, the numbers zero, six, eight, and nine as well as any letter that has a "curlicue" on it.Finally, you can make your flowers "pop" just a bit by adding a touch of color. On my layout, I took a brush-tipped marker and colored in the flower petals and some of the leaves using colors that match my photo.
The large paper flowers were cut out of paper from the Center City Designs Sutton Place collection. Cotton art tape accents are from the Gin-X Treasure Hunt collection, and the dots were created with dimensional puffy paint.
