Everyday...

Due to the busy schedule of last week, we are just now getting back to the projects and layouts featuring our circle coasters. Today we have an album designed by IP design team member Kim Kesti. Directions in her own words: "I created a mini-album by covering two pieces of chipboard with the Cosmic Alignment paper. I embellished the front of the album with paper accents and a silk flower. The title was created with some of our wonderful rub ons and some [chipboard] letters. Inside the album, I tagged seven pages with our small circle coasters. I painted the coasters first and added rub ons to indicate the seven days of the week. The coasters serve as little tabs to seperate each day. I plan to fill the album with black and white photos of my kids as they experience everyday life." The title can be created using chipboard and/or coaster letters. Thanks for reading!

We're Back!

After three fun filled days in Atlanta, Ginger, Barb and I are all back in the office trying to catch up and stay cool. Since we didn't really leave the hotel during our stay, we didn't feel the heat down south. Here in Ohio though, we are definitely feeling the heat!
Thank you to all those who came to CKU. We hope you enjoyed the classes because we certainly enjoyed our students! There's nothing like a weekend of cropping, talking, teaching and sharing to rejuvenate our creativity. If you're looking for some inspiration, be sure to check out our gallery of projects and ideas. Happy scrapping!

Scrappin at CKU

For all you left brained folks out there, here's a little love today from Cathy Zielske and yours truly, Laura Stoller. I have been a big fan of Cathy's for a long time, so meeting her here at CKU Atlanta was quite an experience! She is as fabulous in person as she appears!

CKU started off great. We did a make and take 6x6 mini page today and people loved playing with the cotton art tape and coasters. We also had a crop game at 9:00 tonight where we asked for random talents from the audience and got everything from tongue tricks to PacMan voices to gymnastics.

Also...fun little tip given by one of the make and take gals today. Use your rub-on stick (after you've finished the box of rub-ons) as storage for ribbon.

Looks like we have some talented scrappers here!

CKU Atlanta

Well, after a long day yesterday, Ginger and I have arrived here in Atlanta for CKU. Today we do a 6x6 page make and take, and we are very excited! If we get a chance, maybe we'll post instructions and an image next week. It's so hot here...no wonder they call it Hotlanta!

Circles Circles Circles

Well, we're back from CHA and getting back in the flow of things. Thanks to everyone who came by the booth, hope you loved the new stuff! CKU starts Thursday and Barb will be teaching two classes, with Ginger and I (Laura) helping. We are looking so forward to HOT-lanta.
This week for the blog we are focusing on projects and layouts using Circle Coasters. Today we have a layout by IP Design team member Lisa Truesdell who used the circles to look like patterned paper. They add great movement and color to her action photo. Thanks for looking!

32 Candles

Now this is one delicious layout, made by guest designer Christina Padilla. Featuring papers, tabs and coasters from Blue Cardigan's line "Bloom," this is definitely a layout worth celebrating. Christina uses ink to pop the papers off the page and her embellishments add texture and style. The buckle arrow guides the eye to a very important point of interest...the cake! If you look carefully you will also see that she uses staples, a growing technique in the scrapping world. We hope all of your birthday wishes come true, Christina!

Flowers and Vases

Flowers are all the rage in scrapbooking. You can just never have enough, small, medium, large, extra large, extra small, they are all useful. As mentioned in yesterday's post, see below) Blue Cardigan Designs has gone one step further with a line premiering at CHA next week. In their new line "Prints" you will find a paper with vases, just begging to be cut out, altered, covered, sewn and flowered all up! Check it out at the Imagination Project website, and start brainstorming!

More Sneak Peaks! Blue Cardigan

We'll have a few more previews before the CHA Summer 2006 show. Today we have two brand new collections from Blue Cardigan. First is Ornamental. Ornamental combines a softer color pallet of pinks, blues, and green with classic and intricate patterns. The two Coaster Board embellishments have plenty of space to customize by doodling or using our rub-ons. Layout by Laura Stoller.

The second new collection is Prints.
Prints is a combination of fun hand drawn flowers and hearts combined with unique patterns. The paper with the vases, "Gran's Shelf" is perfect for cutting as seen in this layout by Barb Hogan.

Celebrate!

Here's a little sneak peak at one of Chloe's Closet's new lines 'Rise and Shine,' used in IP design team member Dana Newsom's party project. She certainly sets a great mood with this fun line and party decoration idea.
Dana uses a combination of DynamiX stickers and coaster letters to spice up the word 'Celebrate.' Using techniques such as inking, layering, wearing, and doodling, she adds dimension and interest to her project. Let's partaaayyy!

Fourth Birthday

"A Colorful Adventure" from Gin-X is a great line to make party favors with. Guest designer Kim Faucher certainly made some fun and colorful items with this line. Included in her party favors are an altered pail, a party hat, invitations and thank you cards, a party wand and even a layout to remember the event! It must be great to be four!

Party Time!

Summertime is the time to party. It's the season of barbecues, campfires, swimming pools, and hanging out with friends and family. To make these get togethers even more fun, this week will focus on fun party projects made to spice up any party. Kicking off our rocking party week is returning guest designer Michon. Michon chose Gin-X's "Take a Vacation" line which fits perfectly for a summertime party. She certainly covered all of her bases with invitations, menus, nameplates, and even napkin rings made out of paper. This is one party I would certainly love to attend! Party on Michon!

Coaster Storage

Just imagine. Scrapbooking products used to organize... scrapbooking products. This is just what inventive IP design team member Terri Davenport has done with coaster squares to organize her rub-ons.

Using a pencil box as her base, Terri altered a box with Gin-X From the Future coaster squares full of fun and inspirational quotes. Gorgeous!

Coaster Fashion

Check out the new fashion...coaster earrings! IP Design Team Member Sharon Laakkonen has just brought scrapbooking and jewelry together, and the results are phenomenal! Light enough to dangle but strong enough to withstand an evening out on the town, coasters can be altered to look great with any outfit. And just in case you need storage for all the earrings you might make with our coasters, IP design team member Shelley Anderson has altered some circle tins with style.

Photo Corner Mania

Today we have a layout from Michon, a guest designer. She redefines photo corners with this bright and fun layout. Not only did she use photo corners as a border, if you look closely, you see a butterfly! The pinwheels, the colors, and the photo all bring sunshine to everyone who looks at this page. Thanks Michon!

Non-Traditional Uses for Coasters

We have seen coasters inked, sanded, stitched, punched, layered, painted, and on the list goes. So, let's take this week to see what our coasters can do when they jump outside of the scrapbooking box and show us what they're really made of. (Acid free coasterboard in case you were wondering) Starting us off today is IP Design Team member Katja Kromann and her tie-on flower made with Gin-X Flower Coasters. This gorgeous embellishment can brighten up just about anything it comes in contact with.

Katja's Directions: I chalked and stamped on two flower coasters and punched a hole in the middle of them. I glued the flowers together and added a craft flower and strung ribbon through the hole. Through the loop on the back of the flower I put strands of ribbon and a ribbon tie, then pulled the ribbon through the hole tight and
made a bow. Added leaves.
